DIES CINERUM, 2006
Today, the whole Christendom troops to churches everywhere to receive the mark of ashes on their foreheads. It is said that the ashes are made out of burned dried palm leaves like this one hanging on our front door.
It is a tradition among (Filipino) Catholics to bring home these palms, blessed during the day commemorating Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, and keep them tucked in windows or tacked onto the door.
It will be replaced again this year by a fresh leaf.
