  6. TITO: Sounds wonderful! Kakainggit. I normally go out alone. :-) I thing to remember in taking photos at night especially if lights are on all over the place anyway, put off your flash. Allow the mood to be captured as it is :-)

LIW: Thanks! I'm doing the same today.

ALEQ: Thanks po! I always visit your site and leave comments via my film blog PINILAKANG TABING.

  11. I think there is something wrong with the dates in your blog.

    Entry of March 28, 2006 ?
    I get a bit confused :-)

I accept the challenge to run, eat ... and drink !

    ReplyDelete
  12. No, no mistake at all. Since I do not know how to make my welcome entry remain up there ALL THE TIME, i thought maybe i'd post it using a future date. As with all the entries below it, everything's up to date :-)

...and drink, huh? That can be arranged, :-)!

  15. Hi, really nice blog. Thanks for explaining why you have it dated march 2006.
My friends and I put up our collective blog with pictures of places we eat, travel to. Been doing that for three years, but this is our first year to post pics. Adds a new dimension for sure.
Love the tshirts by the way, pity that they're sold out on some of the designs and phasing out the otehrs.

Dylan, OC is Orange County in Southern California. Anyway, I enjoy your blog. I grew up in Paranaque and spent my childhood years in Makati. By January, I'll be able to come back home and explore the Philippines. Any tips/info you could give me about Pampanga?

    Here's my email - OCjpr@yahoo.com

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous9:29 AM

MANY THANKS FOR THE WONDERFUL PICTURES. IT MAKES ME REALIZE HOW UNIQUE AND LOVELY THE PHILIPPINES IS. MABUHAY ANG MGA PINOY MABUHAY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. John, hey! Thanks for that info re OC. Didn't occur to me the first time. Pampanga is best visited during the Holy Week. If you're not into bloodshed, you can always view the ship-like carrozas of San Fernando. We've lost a lot of food institutions because of the opening of SM (they haven't moved into it) but I suppose there are still places you can visit in the provincial capital. Museums? There's one in Clark and Angeles City. You can also opt to refresh yourself in the cool streams of Mount Arayat (if they still flow, that is). Old houses are still everywhere - very grand and very lonely, waiting for a good photographer to record their stories. :-)

Dheena: Thanks for visiting! I hope to post new photos within the week. :-)

nice blog here. very interesting, especially the photos. what type of camera are you using?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hey, dude. I am using an ordinary point-and-shoot camera, a Casio Exilim EX Z750. At 7.1 megapixels, it is something you might want to bring along on your trips (and you seem to have many).

I already saw the 10 megapixel version. Very slim!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anonymous5:50 PM

god, we are using the same cam but mine is only 5 megapixels. no wonder my photos do not come out as good as yours. anyway, i should be keeping a tab on your blog for those photos. :) ciao bella!

    ReplyDelete
  43. The megapixels don't really matter much. Higher mp take up so much of your memory space.

My shot of the fu dog in Sta Cruz was taken uding a 2 mp camera, but it was a Canon.

Just right lighting, know when to or not use yoour flash, and finally, befriend this guiy called Photoshop :-)

  52. Hey Dylan.
Thanks for visiting my blog. And thanks for the kind words.
Did you see my first two posts re. my favorite films? Please do take a look and tell me what films I missed.
BTW, Do you like the works of Nick Joaquin (a.k.a. Quijano de Manila)? I had a strange encounter with him several years ago. I'll probably write about it one of these days. It's within your territory because it happened right at the heart of Nick's beloved city of Manila: on Rizal Avenue.

    Hi Dylan,
It's Karina. We met in Cebu a long time ago while we were still medical students. This is a beautiful blog you have. Anyway, I am a contributor for this e-book advocacy blog based in Washington,DC called teleread.org. A non-profit. We have readerships all over the world and the contributors are from diverse backgrounds. My bottomline is this: to bring attention to bringing more books to the Philippines especially now with the boom of e-books. My entries will be introduced soon, just finalizing some specifics. I am now based in Houston, TX. I'd like to write about the presence (if any) of e-books in the educational systems in the Philippines (and/or the possibility ), including the usability of these books esp. in schools, and I am now starting to do "online informal interviews" with people who may have something to say on this. Be it the presence, possibility of using e-books with K-12 education over there. Upon reading on your background with science books for grade schoolers, I would really like to know what you think? If you're up to it, you may email me at thestoryofhealing (at) mac (dot) com. And we can start from there.

    Thanks and all the best!

    Karina
